A mother who failed to seek medical care for her baby boy after he was “violently shaken” to death by her former partner resorted to trying to administer formula using a syringe in the moments before he died, a court has been told.
Family members of Kristie Lee Willmot filled the front row of Brisbane Supreme Court as she learnt her fate for her role in the death of her son, Michael Willmot, back in 2021.
Ms Willmot and her then partner, Robert Alan Gee, were initially charged with the baby’s murder after he was found unresponsive at a Logan carpark in 2021.
But the pair pleaded guilty to downgraded charges when they faced court on Friday morning.
Willmot pleaded guilty to cruelty to children under the age of 16, committed between June 10-15, 2021.
Gee pleaded guilty to a single count
