Millions of people are set to receive £300 in their bank accounts from November 1.

Recipients of Winter Fuel Payments will be receiving between £200 - £300, depending on personal circumstances.

To qualify, individuals must be of a certain age and earn £35,000 or less in taxable income.

Those aged over 80 (born before 1945) get £300 while those under 80 will receive £200.

It will start being paid automatically into accounts from November 1.

The eligibility criteria has changed this year following a major backlash against last year's rules which saw millions of low or middle-income pensioners miss out.

Initially, payments will be sent to all pensioners but it will then be claimed back from those with incomes above £35,000 by HMRC.
