AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - A local non-profit is helping the community continue to eat healthy once SNAP benefits expire in just over 24 hours.

Augusta Locally Grown shared a Facebook post stating they will double SNAP benefits TODAY, October 30th so patrons can buy tokens that NEVER expire.

Right now, our community is feeling the impact of the ongoing government shutdown, from military families to federal workers to local farmers. Many are uncertain about how to keep food on the table, even as access to fresh, local food becomes harder to reach.

To help bridge that gap, we’re continuing to double SNAP benefits.

Use your SNAP card at the market this Thursday, October 30 to purchase tokens, and those tokens never expire.
