AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Changes are coming to one of Augusta’s most popular community spaces.

The Augusta Recreation & Parks Department held a public meeting Tuesday night to discuss plans for improvements at the May Park Community Center. Residents had the chance to share ideas and feedback on what they would like to see updated.

Some of the improvements that will be made include lighting, tennis and basketball courts, grills, and picnic shelters, according to the presentation.

District 9 Commissioner Francine Scott says she’s looking forward to the upgrades.

“Well, I’m excited because this is one of the most used recreation centers on a daily basis,” she said.

“My grandson came here for some summer program last year, and he enjoyed it.”
