Anyone going out on Halloween night will want to bundle up.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service expect a largely dry Friday evening in the wake of a storm expected to dump heavy rain on Massachusetts on Thursday. But strong westerly winds are likely on Friday night, making temperatures feel more like winter than fall.

The wind is expected to pick up in the mid-afternoon, with gusts of around 30 to 40 mph.

Higher elevations like the Berkshires and Worcester Hills, as well as coastal areas like the Cape and Islands, are likely to be at the greatest risk of strong gusts in that range, with a chance for winds faster than 40 mph.
