MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Patrick County students will be the latest school district in Virginia to benefit from a free community college education through the Patrick Promise Fund.
College education can be a financial burden for many families, but the Patrick Promise, created by the Patrick County Education Foundation, aims to invest in students as part of its 3-stool mission.
“We wanted to work to move Patrick from one of the lowest-ranked rural localities in Virginia to the top five in terms of high school diploma and GED completion rates. Secondly, we wanted to increase the number of students who were going to be seeking post-high school education opportunities. And third, we wanted to bring resources in to create more workforce training programs,” said PCEF Chairman Stewart Rober
