CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - A potential housing development in Christiansburg could bring new homes to the southern end of town.

The proposal brought to Christiansburg Town Council requests a rezone of agricultural land on Kimball Lane into a single-family residential district.

Although the town needs this housing, residents don’t think their community is the best spot for them.

Kimberly McKittrick considers herself lucky to have grown up in neighborhoods around the southern end of Christiansburg her entire life.

Hundreds of houses and families fill the area, but she’s not sure if now is the right time to be building more.

“This is my home and it means a lot to me and I know it could mean a lot to many families that decide to come here, but I want them to be safe,” said McKittrick.
