Flytipper left clue lurking in roadside mess View Image
A man has been ordered to pay more than £1,400 after a messy mistake led council workers to his door. South Gloucestershire Council investigated an "eyesore" fly-tip left littering a roadside verge in Aust.
The waste, including various household items, was discovered on Redhill Lane on January 4 this year. However, a key clue had been left behind - paperwork found among the pile named Rob Edwards, who was then living in Patchway near Bristol.
When questioned, the 45-year-old told the council that someone had offered to remove the waste for free, but he was unable to evidence this. He appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Monday (October 27) and pleaded guilty to failing in his duty of care regarding waste, the council said.
