A helicopter that crashed fell to the ground shortly after take-off, landing in a field. South Yorkshire Police rushed to a field near Ings Lane in Bentley, Doncaster, at 10.14am today, joined by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
Approximately 50 members of the emergency services remain on site, with numerous police vehicles and officers present, and Ings Lane has been cordoned off. Officers from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are also on scene and will commence their investigation immediately.
The helicopter is believed to have been just minutes into its flight from Retford Gamston Airfield when it crashed. The condition of the pilot and any potential passengers remains unknown.
