Police caught a hungry HGV driver eating a meal while juggling a cup and spoon in the West Midlands. He was identified during a major crackdown in Coventry , Birmingham and the Black Country.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) recently participated in Operation Tramline, a project running across the UK in partnership with National Highways. Nearly 200 offences were recorded in the Midlands.

Teams used an unmarked HGV to identify traffic offences in real time and witnessed behaviour they described as 'truly shocking.' Among the incidents was a HGV driver carrying flammable liquids observed eating a meal at the wheel with a cup and spoon in hand.

Another person was caught driving through traffic at speed while texting. Police also stopped a taxi driver for the same offence and
