MINOT, ND (KXNET) - A 27-year-old man was arrested early Thursday after police say a brief high-speed pursuit ended in a fiery crash that caused a temporary power outage in southeast Minot.

Police said officers attempted to stop the driver of a gray BMW around 1:53 a.m. for erratic driving and operating without headlights. The vehicle fled at speeds topping 100 mph, prompting officers to end the chase.

The driver later failed to navigate a roundabout at 31st Avenue and 13th Street Southeast, leaving the road and striking a transformer box before coming to a stop.

All three occupants in the vehicle fled on foot but were quickly located after residents reported the crash. Shortly after impact, the vehicle caught fire, knocking out power to dozens of homes. Fire crews extinguished the blaz
