Shillong, Oct 30: Two persons identified as Marvinson Jyrwa and Skhemkupar Massar were convicted and sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment for offenses committed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A judgment delivered by the Court of E. Shabong, Special Judge (NDPS), East Khasi Hills, on October 27 stated that the two accused are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six years and to pay a fine of Rs. 60,000 each. In default of payment, they will undergo a further rigorous imprisonment of one year for the offence punishable under Section 21(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act read with Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The case, registered under Laitdiengiri PS Case No. 16(02)2017, was investigated by UBSI Anderson Jyrwa.
