A 27-year-old Port Colborne man who was arrested Wednesday after a daylong manhunt in the east end of the city has been charged with second-degree murder.
Niagara Regional Police were out in force early Wednesday when they secured two addresses on the east side of the Welland Canal after being dispatched to a weapons call.
Police were initially called to 268 Fares St., where the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered. He has been identified as Mark Pero of Port Colborne.
Police later headed two blocks southeast to 173 Mitchell St., where it was believed the accused, Brady Neff, had fled.
