With heavy rains pouring on Niagara Thursday and expected to continue into Friday, parents may be wondering if an umbrella and raincoat should be part of their child’s Halloween costume.

Based on the weather forecast, conditions should be dry by the time kids go out trick-or-treating, but guardians may want to keep rain gear handy.

Environment and Climate Change Canada said showers are expected to end in the morning and be followed by mainly cloudy conditions. There is, however, a 40 per cent chance of rain overnight.

It is also expected to be windy later in the day, with 40-km/h northeast winds gusting up to 60 km/h, meaning people will want to make sure their Halloween decorations are secured.
