CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Schnucks will be hosting a food drive at all of its locations to help community food banks and pantries.
According to the company, the food drive starts on Thursday, October 30 and runs through Tuesday, November 11 at all 113 stores.
This is in light of a growing demand due to SNAP benefits being paused during the ongoing government shutdown.
They say customers will be able to donate food by buying it and placing it in the donation barrels/bins in each store.
The most requested items are shelf-stable, non-perishables such as:
Light tuna or salmon (canned or packaged)
Canned chicken or meat
Soup, chili or stews with meat & beans
Canned fruit
Diced tomatoes/tomato paste
Canned spaghetti sauces
Canned Beans
Instant brown rice
Whole wheat pasta
Boxed
