TYLER, Texas (KETK)-- With Halloween just one day away, Christus Health is reminding families that a bit of preparation can help keep the night filled with treats- not trips to the emergency room.
The health organization is encouraging East Texans to plan ahead for a safe and fun evening. That includes trick-or-treating in groups, carrying flashlights or glow sticks and carefully checking all candy before eating it to ensure it hasn’t been tampered with or contaminated.
"Halloween is such a great time to make memories for children and adults," said Shelby Ivey, trauma program manager at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs. "We want everyone to enjoy the night, but to do so safely, avoiding the preventable injuries we see each year."
