ROCHESTER, Minn.-Jennifer "Red" Carroll first moved to the Rochester area in 2014 after coming to Minnesota to flee an abusive husband in Oregon with her two kids, since then she has been homeless twice.
She now uses that experience to help others as an independent advocate and by volunteering with several local organizations such as the Steve Rummler HOPE Network, the Dorothy Day House and as a member of the "The Team of Advisors Bringing Lived Experience".
Carroll says she joined the TABLE on April 22, in 2025 during her second stint of homelessness between February and July of that year.
Beth Kangas, one of the founders of the TABLE, says the 15 member group is made up of community members who have experienced homelessness in Olmsted County.
