After a gloomy, wet and wind-swept week, the Cape Fear region will receive a treat for Halloween weekend.
Sunny, season temperatures return, with a chance of the first frost of the season in the western portions of the region. It's all part of a progression of Canadian cool fronts making their way into the Carolinas.
Here's the setup
The dreary stretch of weather that cloaked Fayetteville in clouds and rain this week has been pushed offshore. In its place, high pressure is building into the weekend, with sunshine and occasional brisk winds.
Fayetteville officially picked up nearly 2 inches of much-needed rain this week, with areas to the southwest collecting nearly 3 inches. We'll still end the month below the usual rain totals, but it certainly helped.
