BEAUMONT, Texas — A Lamar State College Port Arthur staff member was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of child pornography, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Gerry Dickert was arrested Oct. 29 and booked into jail at 10:17 p.m., according to Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Deputies made the arrest based on a warrant filed by the Texas Attorney General's Office.

Dickert is charged with possession of child pornography with more than 100 but fewer than 500 visual depictions. His bond is set at $100,000.

Dickert, 58, who is a Port Arthur resident, was the college's public information officer.
