KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A Kinston woman is in jail after police say she assaulted a disabled person and then kicked police officers who were trying to arrest her.
Quartesha Smith’s arrest stems from a disturbance on West Washington Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Warrants say she assaulted a disabled man with a cane and stole his electric bike. When arrested, the woman is accused of kicking one officer and trying to knock him down, kicking another officer, grabbing her by the ankle, and eventually knocking her down, and grabbing a third officer in his private area in an attempt to get away.
Smith is charged with possession of cocaine, three counts of assault causing injury to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, assault on a disabled individual, simple assault, and larceny.
