GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Halloween is tomorrow, and experts urge families to be safe while out trick-or-treating.
Ellen Walston with the Safe Kids program at ECU Health stresses the importance of making sure your kids are seen while walking door-to-door. Parents can make sure they and their kids have reflective clothes on, and always use sidewalks when walking.
Walston says to watch out for cars and always make eye contact with drivers, so they are aware of your presence.
“We also recognize that children are twice as likely to be struck on Halloween, where it is either a back-over strike or a front-over strike,” Walston said. “Sometimes we don’t think of a back-over, and that comes from driveways, and we encourage people to use sidewalks.”
Law enforcement is preparing to increase patr
