STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Service on the Staten Island Ferry was suspended for a short time Thursday as a storm battered Staten Island.
Around 11:50 a.m., emergency transmissions indicated that ferry service was suspended because of a power outage at the St. George Ferry Terminal.
A Staten Island Railway train rider also reported hearing an announcement that was suspended around noon.
A Department of Transportation spokesperson later confirmed that there was a brief power outage in the late morning that affected some parts of the St. George Ferry Terminal in the morning.
According to the spokesperson, power has been restored and normal ferry service has resumed as of 1 p.m.
Two employees of businesses located inside the terminal reported that the outage lasted between 15 and 20 minutes.
