The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 2:25 p.m. on Thursday for gusty showers until 3:15 p.m. for Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Nassau County.
Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 50 mph.
"At 2:24 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers over Oakwood, or near The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, moving northeast at 35 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Expect gusty showers in the following locations:
Coney Island and The Verrazano Narrows Bridge around 2:30 p.m.
Flatbush around 2:35 p.m.
Canarsie around 2:40 p.m.
Howard Beach around 2:45 p.m.
Rockaway Beach and Kennedy Airport around 2:50 p.m.
Jamaica and Valley Stream around 2:55 p.m.
Lynbrook and Elmont around
