A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 3:12 p.m. for gusty showers until 4:15 p.m. for the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Nassau County.

Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 50 mph.

"At 3:12 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers along a line extending from Long Island City to near Canarsie to near Highlands. Movement was northeast at 35 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Freeport, Valley Stream, Long Beach, Garden City, Lynbrook, Mineola, Woodmere, Westbury, Rockaway Beach, Great Neck, Crown Heights and Throgs Neck Bridge.
