SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — Smithfield Superintendent Dawn Bartz has broken her three-week silence regarding the district's handling of an antisemitic hazing investigation involving the high school's football team.
In a statement to 12 News, Bartz assured everyone that the district stands "firmly against antisemitism and hate."
"Our district has taken this matter seriously and acted in accordance with our policies," Bartz wrote. "We are actively exploring ways to strengthen programming for Smithfield students that reinforces respect, empathy and inclusion, which are the core principals of our school community."
