Locals are rallying support after a record-setting Category 5 wreaked havoc in the Caribbean this week.
Hurricane Melissa caused flooding, knocked out power, forced people from their homes, and killed dozens as it traced a destructive path across Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti.

The extent of all the damage stemming from the hurricane remains unclear as of Thursday, due to widespread power outages and hazardous conditions that are slowing the flow of information.
