Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Hartford where a man had to be rescued from the third floor on Thursday.
Crews responded to the report of a structure fire at on Wethersfield Avenu. just after 9:30 a.m. and found a basement fire in the three-story, 12-unit brick apartment building, according to the Hartford Fire Department .
Firefighters found that the fire conditions extended to the upper floors where heavy smoke was reported, fire officials said. A second alarm was called in for additional crews.
According to fire officials, firefighters used a ladder to rescue a man from the third floor. Crews deployed multiple hose lines and were able to knock down the fire and bring it under control, fire officials said.
