Because after a tumultuous year of international trade, Caron — he’s the Ontario Chamber of Commerce vice-president of policy — said volatility will likely continue in 2026.
“Next year, there are three things that will happen at the same time. You have the mid-term (U.S. elections) in the fall, you have the renegotiation of CUSMA and you have the … Supreme Court decision on the tariffs,” he said, referring to U.S. court challenges to the legality of tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
“It’s going to be a very volatile environment. There are going to be ups and downs.”
