LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The State of Michigan will provide $4.5 million to feed residents amid the pause in SNAP benefits, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Thursday afternoon.
The funding will go to the Food Bank Council of Michigan and will help feed Michiganders in all 83 counties. It will also fund food delivery to those who cannot drive to the food bank.
“Hungry families cannot wait for the folks in power in Washington, DC to do their jobs,” said Governor Whitmer in a statement.
