CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – The Clearwater Police Department is stepping up enforcement against e-bike and bicycle riders breaking the law downtown.
According to officials, 31 traffic stops were conducted in an enforcement detail where 24 citations were issued, and six criminal violations were notated involving fleeing and eluding along with two arrested.
The detail occurred on Wednesday between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to Sgt. Matthew Richmond of the Downtown Community Policing Team of the department.
Sgt. Richmond said complaints about unsafe riding in the downtown area have been increasing from businesses and other patrons.
