The City of Pittsburgh is refurbishing a key stretch of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail on the South Side, resulting in delays on Friday and a full closure on Monday.

Crews are milling and paving the trail between the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex Football Training Center and Becks Run Road, and will remove tree roots that have grown under the trail to improve drainage, city spokesperson Jacob Williams said in a release.

Workers began milling the trail on Thursday and will complete that phase of the project Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The city noted that while pedestrians will still be able to access the trail on Friday, there may be delays, and flaggers will be on site to assist.
