Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong has been indicted on multiple charges, including malfeasance of office, public intimidation, and theft, according to court documents obtained by WWL-TV.

The charges come months after

Prosecutors allege that Truong misused $4,650.14 in city money to pay off a personal legal debt from a 2023 lawsuit over violations of Louisiana’s public records laws. A judge had ruled that Truong personally owed attorney fees and penalties for refusing to turn over public documents.

When the city council refused to let him use taxpayer money to cover that debt, prosecutors say Truong threatened to get back at council members by bombarding them with records requests.
