US President Donald Trump on Thursday, October 30, instructed the Department of Defence to resume testing the nation’s nuclear weapons “on an equal basis.” Taking to the social media platform Truth Social, he said that the nuclear weapons testing is in response to testing programs by ‘other countries’.

The order comes just before Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. He added that this “process will begin immediately.”

According to Trump, the US has more nuclear weapons than any other country, with Russia coming in second and China coming in a ‘distant third’.
