Views of Lake Ontario obscured by brush and trees will be getting the city’s attention with the goal of clearing sight lines, residents at a Port Dalhousie town hall session were told Wednesday night.
St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe said he and ward Couns. Bruce Williamson and Marty Mako have been meeting with city staff about the issue for the past six months and have made it a priority to get it dealt with.
He said the city has a waterfront access plan adopted by council last year.
“I, frankly, think it’s a fantastic waterfront access plan, but if people can’t see the water from the waterfront, it’s kind of pointless.”
Siscoe was answering a question from a resident who said many of the views of the lake and Martindale Pond have disappeared over the past two decades behind the growth
