SAWYER & VELVA, N.D. (KMOT) - Sawyer is lending a hand to those who may be feeling the impacts of the government shutdown.

They’re accepting donations for their food drive starting this Saturday.

You can drop it off at various locations across the town, like the city hall, the senior center and the school.

Donations will be distributed on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Call (701) 624-5649 to get on the list to receive some of these essentials.

Velva Fresh Foods is collecting monetary donations to make gift baskets for eligible recipients.

You’ll have to provide your EBT card to the cashier to receive one, and it’ll go until funds run out.

The grocery store announced on its Facebook page that it received a donation from a community member who is challenging others to match their donation of $5
