An atmospheric river is expected to reach Portland on Friday night, hopefully after most trick-or-treaters are tucked into their beds for the evening.
Chances of light rain during the day are about 15 to 20%, said Tom Schuldt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland, with about a 30 to 40% chance of light rain by 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
But even if some intrepid treat seekers are out after 10 p.m. aren’t, it isn’t expected to be too wet or wild.
“Technically, it is an atmospheric river,” said Schuldt. “But there’s not going to be any significant impacts outside of what you would typically see for a system like this in late October, early November.”
