NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A JetBlue flight bound for Newark was diverted in Florida due to a control issue experienced by the flight crew, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Some passengers may have been injured, according to JetBlue.
"JetBlue Airlines Flight 1230 diverted to Tampa International Airport around 2:00 p.m. local time on Oct. 30 after the crew experienced a flight control issue," a spokesperson for the FAA said. "The Airbus 320 left Cancun International Airport and was headed to Newark Liberty International Airport. "
The plane took off, reaching an altitude of 35,000 feet, and maintained this altitude for about 30 minutes before descending to Tampa International Airport in 15 minutes.
The FAA is still investigating, officials said.
