GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — United Way of Mesa County and Sunshine Rides have collaborated to create a nonprofit aimed at providing unhoused people with the resources to successfully become housed — and stay that way.
Sunshine Community aims to serve unhoused residents who are access-limited, income-constrained and employed.
"It's to give people an exit strategy from homelessness," said Alexis Hitzeroth, program manager at Sunshine Community. "We are starting a 6 to 12 month pilot program to help serve 8 of those people who are super motivated to earn their own freedom back and become members of our community."
