On Saturday, all payments linked to the federal food program known as SNAP, or CalFresh in California, will come to a halt.
The Trump administration says the ongoing government shutdown means the program has run out of funding. That’s money millions of Californians rely on to keep food on their tables.
In the South Bay, leaders say the looming disaster will only add to the pain they’re already facing because of deep cuts in the latest federal budget.
