LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - After 44 years at 10/11, Chief Meteorologist Ken Siemek said Thursday he feels “joyful” about retirement but will miss the people he’s worked with and viewers he’s served.
Thursday marked Ken’s final day at the station, ending the longest tenure in 10/11’s history. He joined the station in 1981 and became a trusted voice during severe weather events across Nebraska.
In an interview with his co-anchors Madison Pitsch and Kevin Sjuts, Ken said he’s looking forward to spending more time with his own family and not having to get up and shave and put a suit on every day.
Ken recalled the early days of his career when technology was much different. When he started, the station used plastic maps and magic markers to draw weather fronts.
