WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Salina's fire chief received high honors on Wednesday.
Shane Pearson was named the 2025 Fire Chief of the Year by the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs at this year's KSAFC Conference in Manhattan on Wednesday.
The award recognizes fire chiefs for their outstanding leadership and dedication to the firefighting profession.
"Chief Pearson’s recognition highlights his exceptional leadership of the Salina Fire Department, where he has fostered a culture of professionalism, safety, and continuous development among personnel," the City of Salina said in a statement Thursday. "His work in strategic planning, community engagement, and emergency response has strengthened both departmental effectiveness and community trust."
