Hundreds of animals were surrendered from a rescue operation in northern Alberta as part of an investigation into allegations of animal cruelty, RCMP said Thursday.
RCMP, along with the Canadian Animal Task Force and the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) have taken in 290 dogs, cats, cattle, horses and rabbits in varying states of distress from two properties near Valleyview.
Valleyview is about 350 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
The name of the rescue has not been released publicly, as charges are currently pending approval in the case, police said.
“[It] is one of the largest cases that I've been involved in. I've been doing this work for nearly 20 years,” said Canadian Animal Task Force executive director R.J. Bailot.
