The Smithfield superintendent stated the district has taken the matter seriously and acted in accordance with its policies in response to the Sept. 30 incident involving members of the football team.
Local leaders, including the Town Council president, have called for accountability and condemned the rise of antisemitism.
The Oct. 30 press conference was organized by two Jewish organizations that have been supporting the hazing victim and his family.
Smithfield's School Committee can ensure that the school district's actions regarding an antisemitic hazing incident "have aligned with our district's processes," according to a statement by Superintendent Dawn Bartz on Thursday, Oct. 30.
