HENRY COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) -- A juvenile behavior camp that has been closed for over a year could soon serve another purpose for Henry County.
"It's still a great asset to the county, so we didn't want to see that building to go to waste," said Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship.
Sheriff Blankenship recently proposed to Henry County Commissioners to put some tender love and care into the Camp Sayla. He wants to use the facility as a training facility for law enforcement.
"As of now we don't have an adequate place to train we have to send officers to other places," said Sheriff Blankenship.
This comes after Camp Sayla was forced to close after being hit with multiple child abuse allegations, failed state inspections and lawsuits.
Last year, a headland counseling group agreed to reopen
