IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The 2025-2026 Iowa women’s wrestling season will mark a big year. Not only are the Hawkeyes seeking their third straight national title, this will mark the first time they will compete for an NCAA championship.
“Hopefully, it just continues to add more and more NCAA institutions at the D1 level,” Iowa women’s wrestling head coach Clarissa Chun said.
“When we first started this program, it was just all so new, it was also exciting. The fact that we’re a couple years into this, we’re still having that feeling and that excitement because there is so much growth,” redshirt junior Kylie Welker said.
The transition from competing in the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships to the NCAA Championships, means that only a maximum of 10 wrestlers per team can
