TIPPECANO COUNTY, Ind. — At least one person is dead in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-65 southbound in Tippecano County.

According to an alert by the Indiana Department of Transportation, around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, a multi-vehicle crash involving an overturned semi caused all southbound lanes to close near the Lafayette exit at mile marker 176.8.

This is between Swisher Road and State Road 25.

At 9:11 p.m., the Indiana State Police at the Lowell Post confirmed that this was a fatal crash and all southbound lanes will continue to be closed for reconstruction for an extended period of time.
