WATERBURY, Conn. — West Side Middle School in Waterbury has completed an impressive comeback.

The Waterbury school district announced on Thursday that the middle school on Chase Parkway has successfully exited from the classification of “Turnaround School” under the framework of the Connecticut State Department of Education's Turnaround Office.

The achievement represents the school’s improvement and marks a new opportunity for its students.

Waterbury Public Schools officials note that the CSDE Turnaround Office collaborated with the middle school once it entered the Commissioner’s Network. The network supports schools in the lowest-performing category by addressing talent, academics, operations, culture and climate.
