MAUMEE, Ohio — Four water main breaks in just one week have kept Maumee city crews busy — and some residents frustrated — though city leaders say it’s not the sign of a larger problem.

Fiscus explained that the city’s older clay soil may be playing a role.
“When the clay dries up and constricts, the earth can move more,” he said. “These older pipes, from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, even the littlest bit of movement can cause them to break.”
City officials said two of the breaks happened along Conant Street, one last Friday and another Wednesday afternoo
