LUBBOCK, Texas -- As families across Lubbock prepare for a night of costumes, candy and fun, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office is reminding parents and trick-or-treaters to keep safety top of mind this Halloween.
Patrol Sgt. Greg Treharne with the sheriff’s office said one of the biggest safety concerns is visibility.
“You want to be visible,” Treharne said. “We’ve got some awesome costumes out there, but they’re probably not reflective. Make sure whoever’s in charge has a flashlight or something reflective, and make sure kids aren’t running out into dark parts of the street.”
Treharne said parents should stick to familiar neighborhoods and only approach homes that clearly want to participate.
“If a homeowner doesn’t want to participate, usually the lights are off,” he said. “Stay in
