EXETER - Oyster River High School field hockey head coach Anne Golding said for her team to reach the Division II semifinals, although that is where the season ultimately ended, was still incredible.
Fourth-seeded Oyster River fell to top-seed Souhegan, 1-0 on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Exeter High School, setting up a state championship between the Sabers and No. 2 Bow on Saturday at Bedford High School. Bow advanced with a 4-1 win over No. 3 John Stark in the other semifinal.
"They've earned it every step of the way," Golding said of the Bobcats' semifinal appearance. "It was a very evenly matched and good field hockey game. It just wasn't our turn today."
Oyster River lost to Hanover in last year's quarterfinal round.
Souhegan senior Ella Normandin scored the game's only goal with 13:38 l
